Hi,
I'm using a MEL script to simulate several scenes sequentially. In case of any errors during the simulations, I'm interested in gathering information related to the "panic time" in the script.
Do you have any recommendations for the best way to approach this?

Hi dai,

The way things are handled right now is that you will see two things happening when the panic timer is triggered:

1) Stop timeline
2) Print out two lines like this:
Carbon Simulation carbonSimulationShape1: Exceeding panic time simulating Frame #11
Carbon Simulation carbonSimulationShape1: Emergency stop at Frame #10

So here, the panic time triggered while trying to simulate frame 11. Meaning we stop playing/simulating and stay at the last successful frame, i.e. 10.

I hope this helps.
Is there something different you would need?

Cheers,
Sebastian

Thank you! It worked!
I simply playback the simulation once and check if it reached the end frame.

string $errorFile = ($filePath + ".error");
play -f 1 -w;
if(`currentTime -q` != $endFrame){
    if (!`filetest -f $errorFile`) {
        $fileId = `fopen $errorFile "w"`;
        fclose $fileId;
    }
}
